Besides being a fire hazard (and illegal) taping wires together in a wall makes it very difficult to track down a future problem. All wires must end in an accessible box of some kind (panel, switch, fixture, or junction). Do not cover a junction with drywall. It is always best to let a professional do electrical work (if you do something wrong you may need a new house)!
